Why Most Brands Fail Before They Even Design a Logo

Most people think branding begins with a logo. That’s already the first mistake.
A brand doesn’t start with visuals. It starts with positioning. If a company doesn’t know who they are speaking to, what problem they solve, and why they matter in the market, the design becomes decoration.
When I start a branding project, the first question I ask is simple: Why should this brand exist today?
Markets are saturated. Every category has hundreds of competitors. The only way a brand survives is by occupying a clear mental space in the audience’s mind.
That is why strategy always comes before design.
Only after defining the brand’s purpose, audience, and positioning does visual identity begin to make sense. Typography, colours, and symbols become tools that communicate the strategy.
Good design makes a brand look good.
Strategic design makes a brand relevant.
